Banda Aceh (ANTARA News) - Some 3,250 joint personnel of the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the National Police have been deployed to secure President Joko Widodos (Jokowis) three-day working visit to celebrate Idul Fitri.

"At least 3,250 security personnel have been deployed to secure President Jokowi. We have stationed them at respective locations," Iskandar Muda Military Commander Maj. Gen. Agus Kriswanto stated here on Thursday.

The commander noted that the pacification has been started from Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport and Hotel in Banda Aceh.

"The joint personnel have also been deployed in locations such as Cut Nyak Dhien Airport, Nagan Raya District, and the fishermen village in Meulaboh," he revealed.

Earlier, President Jokowi, in the company of First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo and the entourage, arrived here on Wednesday night.

Aceh Governor Zaini Abdullah, his wife, and several regional leaders were present to welcome the president at the Sultan Iskandar Muda Air Force Base at 10:10 p.m. local time.

"The president will be present for takbiran (last night of the fasting month) at the Great Mosque of Baiturrahman in Banda Aceh and will perform Idul Fitri shalat (ritual prayers) before proceeding to West Aceh," spokesman of the regional administration Ali Alfata noted here.

During his visit to the countrys westernmost region, Jokowi is being accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Economy Sofyan Djalil and Minister for Agrarian Affairs and Head of National Land Office Ferry Mursyidan Baldan.

Alfata noted that the president will be in Aceh on a working visit until Friday.

During his stay in Aceh, known as an Islamic stronghold, the president and his entourage will visit Meulaboh in West Aceh and Banda Aceh in the provincial city.
