Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla attended the annual plenary meeting of the Peoples Consultative Assemblys (MPR) ahead of the 70th anniversary of Indonesias Independence here Friday morning.

The president and vice presidents Mercedes-Benz sedans arrived at 07.41 am local time. The meeting was attended, among others, by 470 MPRs members, former president Megawati and a number of former vice presidents, and foreign envoys.

For the head of state, this is the first time for him to attend the MPRs annual plenary meeting ahead of the countrys independence day anniversary since his inauguration as the president in October 2014.

President Joko Widodos presence at annual meeting that is attended by 470 MPRs members is part of his official activities on Friday.

At the same venue, he has been scheduled to deliver his first state address as the seventh president before members of the House of Representatives (DPR) and Regional Representatives Council (DPD) at their joined meeting.

The head of state will also deliver his speech on the 2016 state budget draft.(*)
