Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta, according to the City's Sanitation Agency, produces six thousand ton of household waste per day.

Hence, numerous senior high schools students in Jakarta had committed to manage the garbage to prevent more environmental destruction.

But, what should actually students do to start managing the household waste and environmental conservation at their school?

Waste Management Manager Greenaration Indonesia, Zulfikar, in a Managing Waste Movement (GEMAS) workshop, recently, said there are four action that every students could do in their school:

First, distinguish what kind of waste you have. A plastic type of garbage, for instance, will have by 80 to 100 years later.
"You put the plastic garbage in a non-recycle-able trash," Zulfikar said to senior high schools students at the workshop.

Second, use plastic bags as you need, especially the reusable bag, when you shop.
Zulfikar said everyone could consumed 170 plastic bags each year whereas 12 gallons of crude oil and 14 millions trees required per year to produce plastic bags.

Third, saving papers usage. "Use both side of papers when you wrote notes," Zulfikar said.
He explained that every ream of paper need one timber and about 2.75 billions timber consumed per year to produce papers.

Fourth, water saving. "About 93 percent water in the world comes from ocean and only three percent of it comes land," Zulfikar said.
He also mentioned that only half of those three percent can consumed.
