Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government is to allocate Rp70 trillion for survivors of Mt. Merapi eruption in Yogyakarta and Central Java who make cleaning and development activities in Cash for work program, Agung Laksono said here Friday.

"The Cash for Work allowance is the second phase which is valid from January to April 2011," Coordinating Minister fro People`s Welfare said.

Agung said the first stage was conducted in November to December 2010 for Rp8.7 trillion.

"It is part of economic recovery of local citizens by giving them cash if they work for cleaning and construction after the disaster," he said.

The sun given to each person was about Rp30 thousand to Rp50 thousand per day depending on their skills, the Minister added.

There were about 20 thousand survivors under this program, Agung added.
"The program cover their economic needs, and the money would be taken from `on call` fund of The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNBP)," he said.(*)
