Director for Islamic Education Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Hairul Fuad said on Sunday that students studying in Egypt should reconsider their plans if they want to return to Indonesia.
Fuad who is on his way to Brebes, Central Java, accompanying Religious Minister Suryadharma Ali, said the students need to reconsider their plans because the situation in Egypt was improving as demonstrators had left the streets following the resignation of President Hosni Mubarak.
He said that the situation had begun to be conducive but he himself was not yet informed of whether academic activities at the Al Azhar University would begin next week.
Full normal condition --guaranteed security and economic activities-- is expected to return in a month`s time.
Therefore, according to Fuad, students need to reconsider their plans if they wanted to go home.
There are about 6,000 students studying in Cairo. When demonstrators took to street demanding for the resignation of President Hosni Mubarak, the Indonesian government evacuated hundreds of Indonesian students.(*)
