Construction of the project will start this year and is expected to be completed in 2016.Banda Aceh (ANTARA News) - Aceh will build a 700 kilometer long road in the interior districts of the province to cost around Rp2.5 trillion.
"Construction of the project will start this year and is expected to be completed in 2016," head of the provincial highway construction office Zahruddin said here on Monday.
The highway will extend between the northeast coast and the southwest coast of the province covering a distance of 1,000 kilometers including roads already exist.
It will provide link between the regencies of Aceh Tengah, Bener Meriah, Gayo Lues, and Aceh Tenggara, Zahruddin said.
He said the project is still in the process of administration, adding tender is expected to be held in February or early March.
He said an approval is being sought from the forestry ministry for the use of forest lands.
"Part of the road will use protected forest lands for which the license is needed ," he said.
He said the highway will be important to provide links between district areas to facilitate economic development.
