Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Rupiah gained higher value closing at the level of 11,685 per US dollar on Tuesday from 11,743 per dollar earlier.

Improved fundamentals of Indonesian economy strengthened rupiah against the US dollar, Lukman Leong an analysts from PT Platon Niaga Berjangka said.

Lukman said despite trade deficit in June the countrys economy in general is stable such as inflation.

In addition, the countrys economy grew 5.12 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of this year.

External sentiment, however, is still a threat with expected increase in the interest rate of the US central bank, Lukman said.(*)
