Inglorious Basterds besutan Quentin Tarantino, tahun ini meraih delapan nominasi, termasuk untuk kategori pemeran pembantu terbaik melalui Christopher Waltz.
Selain di nomor sutradara terbaik, "Avatar" dan "The Hurt Locker" sama-sama menjadi nomine bagi yang terbaik pada kategori cinematography; film editing; sound editing; sound mixing; dan music original score.
"The Hurt Locker" juga menempatkan Jeremy Renner sebagai calon penerima Oscar sebagai aktor terbaik.

Para pemenang kategori untuk "82nd Annual Academy Awards" itu akan diumumkan pada acara penyerahan Piala Oscar 2010 pada 7 Maret mendatang.
Acara akan berlangsung di Kodak Theatre-Hollywood, dipandu oleh aktor Alec Baldwin serta aktor komedi Steve Martin, dan akan disiarkan secara langsung oleh jaringan televisi ABC.
